few thoughts on the choices offered in Reading: Pupa for excellence understood as doll all meat / no brain may have been Lolita, but we must not forget the Lola-Lola in Heinrich Mann, disturbing chanteuse de The Blue Angel masterfully rendered on screen by Marlene Dietrich, and then we close the book was well Azar Nafisi, "Reading Lolita in Tehran " to have a 360-degree view of what reading can mean today. On the theatrical side Nora Ibsen, protagonist of "A Doll's House " could not properly define a "Pupa" as the first one said, is instead the full significance of "fragile and precious trinket " standing at the basis of nineteenth-century conception of women.
Guys and Dolls takes the theme of the doll dear imaginary men of every age, while Last Exit to Brooklyn moves in the deprived suburbs of a contemporary American metropolis, where the "Dolls" (in this case, Tralala, the prostitute) there remit their lives for nothing, for a game, maybe, or a ritual or better still a hobby to relieve the boredom of a group of human beings who have very little and for which, consequently, life is even less, especially that of women. The Califfa and The return of Casanova instead comes off the bipolarity of the cliché female / male to account for two very different faces: on the one hand, a dominating figure, the Califfa fact, holding firmly in hand and the situation does not allow anyone to submit, on the other the character of the seducer par excellence for which, maliciously, might suggest that there is another reference model, that of ' abound to compensate. Where the meaning is to be found in the glittering display of virility and shown over the top that raises however, because of these connotations, some (legitimate) suspicion on its effective exercise in the manner and especially in the amount passed by the legend, this novel is Scnitzler also departs from the tradition because the Casanova, who is the protagonist, now getting on in years and almost out of service, encounters, by chance, in a real nerd : Marcolina, twenty year old student of higher mathematics and a follower of the doctrines of the Enlightenment, of which s' falls in love with her.

Dancing naked in the field of the mind: ideas (and adventures) between already the most eccentric modern scientists, Kary Mullis, is the delightful account of the life and works of this likeable character who is the author, a nerd truly sui generis, to be read in one gulp. You do not know me is, as they say, out of the title theme (there should always be one in any bibliography), which in common with the topic "secchioneria" has the background: the school. Told in first person, very catchy and has a starting a fast pace that gets to read strength.

and we hope to increase in number: in fact this year the group expanded its reading orizzzonti in training and is part of the Educational Institutes for Superiors; we regularly discussed and in the end the conclusion was that it's worth to try: maybe at the beginning there will be those who will participate because we send / to by teachers, but we are people too willing to bet that was to remain on duty but not for pleasure.
